What would happen if Jesus and the Apostles were all women? How would that shift the narrative surrounding Catholic beliefs?

The great iconographic traditions of the Catholic church are often glorified, idolized, and made to be sacred. These traditions are extremely pervasive in Western Culture, and often shape our perception of the events described in the biblical stories. What would happen if many of these defining images and icons weren't treated so preciously? This project is an exploration of that traditional iconography but staged in a contemporary setting as a series of photographs using all female models to play the major biblical figures. Young women appropriate these traditional sacred symbols in order to take command of their place in a church that so often alienates them.
